Shows and movies you need to watch if you haven't.

While everyone is at the theaters watching Pathaan and celebrating King Khan’s grand comeback, there are some shows and movies on OTT platforms that you might have missed out on.

1. CUNK ON EARTH

It’s not daily that you make a show about tracing history and turn it into a satire. Produced by Charlie Booker, 'Cunk on Earth’ is sure to make you laugh out loud. An ill-informed host (played by Diane Morgan) explores history and civilization. Philomena Cunk takes a satirical road at ancient historic events (sometimes relating with her ex to make a point or make it look relatable). If you enjoy deadpan comedy, Cunk on Earth is a must watch. Diane Morgan’s screen presence and her wit is sure to make you rewind and re-watch this 5 part mockumentary because you just don’t want to miss the jokes. It’s not only comedic but it’ll also make you perhaps learn or re-cap historic moments…or maybe make you question whether Jesus was really the first person to be canceled?

The show is available on Netflix

2. VADH

What happens when a retired middle aged couple is caught in a murder? Vadh is a perfect execution, Jaspal Singh Sandhu succeeds in portraying the right emotions which makes you feel for the characters. This Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta starrer keeps you engaged throughout. It starts off slow, developing the plot and kicks off in the second half of the film. A theme that stuck with me throughout this movie was the idea of how parents go above and beyond for their children, but at times when they are in need, that similar action isn’t reciprocated. You can expect this movie to be emotional in terms of the relationship between the parents and their son.

Sanjay Mishra does a phenomenal job at portraying Shambhunath Mishra. To watch him play a role that isn’t comical is fresh, he lives up to the expectations and delivers in each and every single scene. Neena Gupta gets into the skin of her character and gels in with the theme of the movie. The movie is a definite watch, if you’re looking for thriller kind of a night.

You can watch the movie on Netflix

3. THE LAST OF US

If you’re a “gamer”, then need I say more? This ongoing series is quick to become a fan favorite, colliding the gaming world with the cinematic world, Last of Us is a definite binge.Taking us in an post-apocalyptic world, the show follows the same plotline as the video game. The creators of the show have made sure to serve you with the whole experience and followed the source material down to the T. Pedro Pascal’s performance is convincing. Belle Ramsay’s character as Ellie is as sharp as her knife. Their on-screen presence sets out to make them the perfect casts for their respective roles.

Last of Us is a must watch, as it provides you a strong plot and an intriguing set of characters. It’s cinematically pleasing to watch, hence sucking you into its universe. It’s a treat for not only the veteran fans but also for the cinephiles.

You can watch the series on Disney Hotstar+

4. THE GLORY

Trigger Warning: Bullying & Physical Abuse

They say ‘In moments of pain, we seek revenge’, and that is exactly what The Glory brings to you. Carrying a huge amount of pain and anger within her, Moon Dong-Eun sets out to seek revenge from her high school bullies after 18 years. This Song Hye Kyo starrer is the perfect drama to watch if you’re looking for a quick & a crisp K-drama. It shows the ugly side of the education system and how money and status can make you not face the consequences of your actions. Moon Dong-Eun who comes from an economically weaker background becomes a victim of bullying, where she is bullied by a bunch of upper class rich kids.

Director Ahn Gil-ho creates a perfect revenge thriller drama that keeps you on the edge of your seats. One thing that I loved about this K-drama was how in every episode you are treated with a voiceover of Moon Dong-Eun (Song Hye Kyo) talking to her bully Park Yeonjin (Lim Ji Yeon). This shows the tumultuous relationship she’s created with her perpetrator and how she deals with her trauma. The show might be left on a cliffhanger, but don’t worry the season 2 is coming on March 10! So everyone has plenty of time to catch up on Moon Dong-Eun’s villain origin story!

You can watch the show on Netflix

5. ALICE IN BORDERLAND

If you loved watching squid games, then fasten your seatbelts, because Alice in Borderland is ready to twist your brains and make you question humanity in many ways. Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), who is obsessed with gaming, one day finds himself in empty streets of Tokyo, where he and his friends have to compete in various games to survive.

Based on the Manga series written and illustrated by Haro Aso, the show is exciting and brings out certain emotions whilst watching. When you’re watching a survival drama, things sometimes get repetitive. Watching the main lead survive and the rest dying (the same cycle), but Alice In Borderland, that isn’t the case. Each episode gives you a parting lesson to reflect on. Even though in Season 2, the games span out in multiple episodes, it doesn’t seem dragged. They are disguised by the character’s elaborate past and their development since Season 1.

This is an underrated show that deserves a binge, both seasons are perfectly written and executed.

You can watch the show on Netflix
